Best Reno Sportsbooks

We’ve taken the top 5 best sports betting sites in Reno and included reviews of each of the sites. The reviews are designed to highlight what’s on offer and while we think that BetOnline is the best overall sportsbook in Reno, all five offer exceptional services and features that may suit some players better.

Use our reviews as a guide to allow you to tailor the best betting site for you.

1.   BetOnline – Best Overall Sportsbook in Reno

Arkansas best site bet on Super Bowl BetOnline

BetOnline takes the top spot and one of the main reasons was its impressive betting lines. On average their margins or around 4% were lower than any sportsbook we tested. They also excelled when it came to odds on parlays, the range of markets included for parlay bets, and insurance offered on a range of bets.

Its range of betting markets gives you access to lower league options as well as the likes of the NFL, NBA, and NHL. This makes it one of the only sportsbooks that offer coverage (albeit limited) of the Reno Aces and Reno FC.

Other features that you can access include odds boosters, game props, player props, and sportsbook 101 (tutorial section for new sports players). Banking options include Bitcoin, Credit/Debit Card, Wire Transfer, Check, and a huge range of crypto options. Deposits start from just $20 and withdrawals from $50. On top of this, you get access to a $1,000 welcome bonus for new accounts.

What we like:

  • Welcome bonus package worth up to $1,000 (Bonus code: BOL1000)
  • Low margins across the sportsbook
  • Lots of Crypto banking options
  • Low min deposit
  • 24/7 Customer service via live chat

What we don’t:

  • Market coverage not as strong as competition
  • Dated looking sportsbook

2.   MyBookie – Best for Reno Sportsbook Promotions for Existing Players

Reno Online Sports Betting - Best Online Reno Sportsbooks & Get Over $5,000 in Bonuses

MyBookie’s strengths lie within its ability to offer an incredible range of bets and more speciifcally props. It has a feature called “props builder” and within this, you’re able to create incredible bets using sports and markets from all over the world. Odds are strong as well, which means that for prop betting alone, they are one of the best in terms of value.

Exiting player promos are one of the main reasons they sit where they do. Players in Reno are going to enjoy a welcome bonus worth up to $1,000, as well as weekday, reload bonuses, special rebates, raffles, free spins in the casino and a sportsbook reload bonus worth up to $500.

Banking methods include Visa, Mastercard, MoneyGram, and a range of crypto methods, including bitcoin. Minimum deposits start from $45 and withdrawals from just $25 with Bitcoin. Fees are charged on checks starting at $5 up to $15.

The MyBookie welcome bonus is worth up to $1,000.

What we like:

  • Welcome bonus package worth up to $1,000 (Bonus code: MYB100)
  • Great range of existing player promos for Reno players
  • Best Reno sportsbook for prop bets
  • Wide range of payment options available
  • 24/7 Customer service via live chat

What we don’t:

  • High $45 minimum deposit
  • Fee charged for some withdrawal methods, albeit relatively low

3.   XBet – Low Margins and Juice on all Sports for Reno Players

Reno Online Sports Betting - Best Online Reno Sportsbooks & Get Over $5,000 in Bonuses

XBet is an incredibly strong all-rounder in the sports betting sector. They excel in two main areas, and these come in the form of margins charged and juice. On average they were around the 5% mark for almost all their sportsbook, which is just a shade behind BetOnline.

Sports coverage is excellent. Basketball, football, and hockey dominate for much of the year, but they are backed up well with soccer, tennis, baseball, and golf, to name just a few. Prop bets are accessible with most of the higher-profile games, and you can even use the prop bet builder to combine these into parlays.

Promotions don’t just include the $500 welcome bonus, and you also get a reload bonus worth up to $250, a 7% rebate on horse racing losses, and a range of casino bonuses, worth up to $2,000.

What we like:

  • Welcome bonus package worth up to $500 (Bonus code: BOL1000)
  • Very low clearance rate of just 7x on the welcome bonus
  • Wide range of banking options Reno players
  • Good looking sportsbook and easy to use
  • 24/7 Customer service via live chat

What we don’t:

  • Smaller welcome package than some

4.   BetUS – Best for Reno Sportsbook Welcome Offer up to $3,125

Reno Online Sports Betting - Best Online Reno Sportsbooks & Get Over $5,000 in Bonuses

BetUS earns its stripes for one of the best Reno sportsbooks due to the crazy offers available, the $3,125 welcome bonus. This promo is split between sports and online casinos, with a $1,875 (sports) and $625 (casino) split.

On top of that, the sportsbook is one of the strongest that we’ve tested. It has huge sports coverage that includes football, hockey, basketball, basketball, golf, horse racing, martial arts, tennis, boxing and so many more. What’s most impressive is that market coverage within each sport is vast, with hundreds of props to choose from within the more popular games.

Other features on-site include BetUS TV, football betting squares, a dedicated horse racing section, an integrated online casino, and a huge range of promotions outside of the welcome offer.

Banking includes credit cards, cash transfers, bank wire, and a host of crypto banking options. Deposits start from just $25 and withdrawals from $50. There are no fees for either payment process.

What we like:

  • Welcome bonus package worth up to $3,125 (Bonus code: JOIN200)
  • Great looking Reno sportsbook
  • Huge range of Crypto banking options
  • Low margins for NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB
  • Low rollover of just 15x on the sports welcome bonus

What we don’t:

  • Limited range of deposit options

5. Lucky Block – Quick Sign Up and Great Prop Betting Markets and a 200% Bonus

Reno Online Sports Betting - Best Online Reno Sportsbooks & Get Over $5,000 in BonusesLicensed in Curacao and under regulation of the Curacao Gaming Control Board, Lucky Block is the perfect spot for crypto sports betting in Reno. Users can perform transactions using fiat currencies, but Lucky Block is primarily aimed at crypto enthusiasts and, as such, allows for deposits and withdrawals using nine coins, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Soldano, and Dogecoin.

Though a newcomer to the sports betting industry, Lucky Block is easily one of the most stylized and well-rounded sportsbooks featured on this list. It's simple to use, has some great features, and the mobile website works perfectly when betting on the go. The sportsbook covers 30+ sports, with a huge selection of wagering options available and deep in-play betting markets for all of the world's most popular leagues and college sports.

Unlike other sportsbooks, Lucky Block incorporates the use of on-site analytics.  Click on an upcoming NFL game, for example, to view all the potentially decisive info before placing a wager, including recent performances, in-form players, and historical results.

Fancy a break from live sports betting? Lucky Block also has deep esports markets, particularly for NBA2K and FIFA23. Plus, there are also some 6,000 slots, table games, and even a live casino where patrons can play with a live croupier.

LuckyBlock has one of the best welcome bonuses around with new players automatically qualifying for a 200% welcome bonus and 50 free spins on Wanted Dead or a Wild.

The bonus is paid in 10 installments with a maximum of 10,000 EUR available to those who deposit 5,000 EUR (or crypto/fiat equivalent). The offer is valid only on the first deposit made in the casino, with the minimum deposit required 20 EUR.

So for example, a player who deposits 100 EUR will immediately receive free spins and 200 EUR in the bonus bank. And for every €600 you play for (win or loose), you get €20 paid out to your account from the bonus bank, until you have cleared the entire €200.

What we like:

  • No fees on transactions
  • Minimum deposit is $1 or currency equivalence
  • Fast registration without KYC
  • Incredibly fast payouts

What we don’t:

  • No live-streaming of sports

Is Sports Betting Legal in Reno, Nevada?

Sports betting has been legal and licensed in Reno since 1949. You’re also able to bet online for sports across the city. You need to be aged 21 or over to bet on sports.

Given that Reno resides in the state of Nevada, the city follows all the same laws and regulations that are laid out by the state. Nevada (Las Vegas in particular) is one of the gambling capitals of the world, it means that most forms of sports and online sports betting in Reno are fully legal.

Reno sportsbooks

Regulation hasn’t been affected all that much over the years compared to other cities and states across the US. Nevada fell under a grandfather clause that meant they weren’t affected by the federal PASPA ban. As a result, sports betting has been consistent throughout Reno for the past 70+ years.

There are around 60 licensed casinos that operate sportsbooks of some kind with Reno Nevada sportsbooks, some of which are in Reno itself. Later in this article, we talk more about which casinos and sportsbooks are accessible within the city.

Sports Betting Guides State by State

The History of Sports Betting in Reno

Sports betting in Reno has a long and illustrious history. It’s one of the city’s favorite pastimes and below we’ve created a timeline of major events that have occurred over the years.

  • 1949 – Sports betting in Reno was made legal for the first time. Recreational activity around sports such as horse racing already took place in the city, but it was largely a black market until 1949.
  • 1949 – State tax commission considered the background of people who were trying to get a license to host both sports and casino gambling opportunities.
  • 1950 – Gambling tax percentage changed from 3 to 5.5%
  • 1965 – Gaming Industry Association was formed in the city
  • 1970’s – Influx of hotel-casinos were opened in Reno that all had integrated sportsbooks. Including Eldorado Hotel and Casino, Sundowner Hotel and Casino, and Fitzgerald’s Hotel and Casino.
  • 2000 – Reno saw a huge rebranding to move the city from just gambling to include outdoor activities that surrounded the city. It was then known more as an outdoor and gaming destination, which allowed it to stand out when compared to the likes of Atlantic City.
  • 2019 – Nevada-based sportsbooks are allowed to operate within the city and offer mobile betting. Registration can’t be completed online, and new customers are required to visit the casino in person to activate accounts.

Tax on Sports Betting in Reno

For players, there is a 30% tax that will be applied when you’re at the casino but this is generally only for large wins that are over $1,200. Most jackpot wins on games like slots and progressive wins on table games will immediately dedicate the tax whilst at the machine or table.

Reno gambling tax

You will not get charged on smaller wins, even if you have multiple throughout the day. If you do get taxed and you’re from a country that does not tax gambling wins then you may be entitled to a rebate of up to 25%. Each sportsbook and casino will have forms that you can fill in to have this money reimbursed.

Casinos and sportsbooks pay tax based on the gross gambling revenue that they generate. The following brackets are applied:

  • 5% on gross revenue which does not exceed $50,000 per month.
  • 5% on gross revenue which exceeds $50,000 but does not exceed $134,000 per month.
  • 75% on gross revenue which exceeds $134,000.
  • 75% on gross revenue which exceeds $250,000.

Sportsbooks in Reno generated $9.94 million in 2020. This makes up just a small percentage of the total revenue generated from casinos, which amassed $556 million in the same year.

Ice Hockey

Whilst not necessarily the number one sport to bet on in Reno, Ice Hockey has grown massively in its popularity over the last few years. One of the main reasons is the success of the Vegas Golden Knights, who are currently represented in the Pacific Division in the Western Conference of the NHL. Even though Las Vegas is a good 6-hour drive away, there are still strong ties to both cities and a huge support base in Reno.

Reno ice hockey rink sportsbook

Most sportsbooks offer comprehensive coverage of the NHL and the best in the business include betting from leagues around the world. Europe has some of the strongest ice hockey leagues outside of the US and these are generally well supported by the likes of BetOnline, Bovada, and BetUS.

Baseball

Coverage of baseball has increased due to the popularity of the little-league baseball team, Reno Aces. Playing their games at the Greater Nevada Field stadium, the team has gone from strength to strength in recent years and this has had a positive uptick on betting in the city. Couple this with inter-state rivalry with Las Vegas Aviators, and the games can get incredibly hostile.

All the Reno sports betting sites that we’ve listed so far on this page included an extensive cover of baseball, particularly the MLB. The lower leagues aren’t as popular for betting in general, but Reno has some of the highest coverage when it comes to these bets, and you can get access on both BetOnline and XBet for most local games.

Basketball

Basketball is another sport that is well-catered for betting sites across the city. The coverage is dominated by the NBA for most, but the best will include coverage of lower leagues, and even international coverage, such a Europe, where the sport is growing at a rapid rate.

reno basketball stadium

Basketball in Reno is focused on the Nevada Wolf Pack, which is a college basketball team from the University of Nevada, which is in Reno. They are a Division 1 team and part of the NCAA, making them one of few elite teams in the country.

Betting wise, you need access to Bovada, BetOnline, and BetUS to get the best basketball coverage. All sites will allow access to NBA games, but these are the best when it comes to NCAA coverage, and all have incredible prop bet sections for basketball betting.

American Football

American football coverage in Reno is huge. There are no pro or semi-pro teams in the city, but Las Vegas plays host to the Las Vegas Raiders, which is a well-supported team for locals in Reno. However, the city is closer to San Francisco than it is to Las Vegas, meaning that the majority of folk support the San Francisco 49ers, who are hosted in the NFL.

The online betting sites cover American football as well as any sport. Again, a huge emphasis is put on NFL betting, and as games lead up to the playoffs and then the Superbowl, betting only intensifies. Nowhere in the country takes more bets in terms of volume and amount staked than Nevada for the Superbowl.

Other Sports

Reno has a lot of links to a lot of sports teams, although few on a professional level. However, it’s still a city that loves its sports betting and it’s incredibly diverse in the sports that you can bet on with a range of sportsbooks.

Soccer is one of the more notables, with ties to Reno 1868 FC. Tennis betting is accessible on all sites, along with horse racing, golf, boxing, MMA, UFC, cricket, darts, handball, rugby, snooker, and wrestling.

What Bonuses are Available are Reno Online Sports Betting Sites?

When you sign up to a Reno sports betting site you’re going to access to a range of promotions. The most lucrative are usually the welcome bonus and is this is what we’re going to look at in this section.

We’ve included information in the table below about what sort of bonus you can expect to find from our top 5 Reno sportsbooks, but we want to dive a little deeper into the range of offers you can expect to claim from some of the best betting sites on the market.

Matched Deposit Bonus

The matched deposit bonus is the most popular offer you’re going to get. As the name would suggest, it’s a match of your opening deposit. Most of these offers are a 100% match, but they can range anywhere from 50% up to 500%.

Reno Online Sports Betting - Best Online Reno Sportsbooks & Get Over $5,000 in Bonuses

The bonuses are going to have clearing terms attached. This is the amount you need to wager the bonus before you can withdraw as cash.

For example, if you claimed $1,000 in bonus cash and that bonus had a clearing rate of 10x, then you would need to make $10,000 worth of wagers before that $1,000 wash withdrawable.

The lower the clearing the rate, generally, the more lucrative the offer is. XBet currently has the lowest clearing rate for this type of promotion at just 7x, which is incredible value based on the $500 bonus up for grabs.

Free Bet Bonus

A free bet bonus is where the Reno sportsbook will give you a free bet when you register your account. These can work in multiple ways, but the most common is a match on your deposit up to a certain amount.

For example, it might be a $50 free bet where you need to deposit $50 or more to trigger this offer. Generally, the free bet will come with no wagering, but you likely won’t get the stake back either. That means when you place your bet with the free bet, any winnings from the wager will just be the profit and not the stake.

However, the best thing about these promotions is that they come with no wagering. So, winnings are applied to your account as cash, with no turnover attached.

No Deposit Bonus/Bet

The no deposit bonus or bet is where the sportsbook will give you a free bet or a bonus without needing to make a deposit. These promotions are rare these days, but you can still find them, especially around big sporting events such as the Superbowl, World Series, and Kentucky Derby.

These offers are smaller than the free bets and the bonuses but are ideal if you’re just starting out and are new to sports betting. The value of them is usually relatively low and the amount you can win is often capped. Make sure you check the terms and conditions to see fully how they work.

Deposit and Withdrawal Methods for Reno Online Sports Betting Sites

One of the key areas to the best sports betting sites in Reno is being able to move your money about quickly and safely. There are lots of banking methods available these days and some are better than others.

The most notable is that of Visa and Mastercard. Given that most have access to one or both, it’s going to be the payment method of choice for a lot of players. Minimum deposits are generally a little higher than some payment methods and you likely won’t get a withdrawal option for either.
