bovada-pennsylvania

If you like betting on sports, Bovada is the place to be. The live betting aspect to the sportsbook is particularly impressive, as it reacts quickly to in-game events and provides players with an intuitive way to bet. You’ll also often find industry-leading odds on the live betting platform, so you’ll get the best returns on your money. You’ll also enjoy this site if you’re a college sports betting fan, as it offers comprehensive markets on all NCAA football and basketball fixtures.

If you fancy a change of scene, you’ll also find that Bovada offers a great online casino. New games are added to the lineup incredibly regularly, plus we love the leaderboards – tournaments challenging you to best other players and scoop bonus money. If you’re a fan of poker, you’ll find a crazy array of tournaments, from the Monthly Milly to the $150k Guaranteed, plus their option to play anonymously ensures opponents can’t use past knowledge of your game against you.

When it comes to bonuses, this online gambling Pennsylvania doesn’t hold back. Casino players will be able to claim a Bitcoin bonus worth up to $3,750, plus there’s a Bitcoin bonus for sportsbook users worth up to $750. As you can see, it really pays to use Bitcoin at Bovada!

What we like:

  • Huge Bitcoin bonuses for new players
  • Great loyalty scheme to reward regular players
  • Industry-leading odds often offered
  • Fantastic selection of poker tournaments
  • Great coverage of college sports

What we don’t:

  • Shady history, but now a reputable gambling site

2. BetOnline – The Top Online Gambling Pennsylvania Site

betonline-pennsylvania

When it comes to online gambling for real money Pennsylvania has many great options, but the number one website on our list of online gambling Pennsylvania sites is undoubtedly BetOnline. It’s the sportsbook that takes top billing at this site, offering all the markets you could want, including a large selection of basketball betting opportunities. NBA betting dominates, but you’ll also find markets on various other leagues too, from the WNBA to European tournaments. NFL betting coverage is also comprehensive, with the game props markets being a particular highlight.

Over at the casino, we were particularly impressed by the array of slots, many of which are the graphics-heavy games from Betsoft. A couple of particularly good titles found there are Stampede and Jungle Stripes, both of which look great and have huge prizes. Poker players will also be happy, as the site runs on the Chico Poker Network – a large network with plenty of players and a reputation for great tournaments.

BetOnline doesn’t hold back with its bonuses either. You’ll be able to claim welcome bonuses worth up to $1,000 at the sportsbook, casino, and poker, plus there’s also a Bitcoin bonus that boosts all deposits using the cryptocurrency by 35%, making it one of the best places for Bitcoin users in Pennsylvania to gamble online.

What we like:

  • Big welcome bonuses for casino, poker and sports betting
  • 35% boost to all deposits made using Bitcoin
  • Fantastic selection of NBA and WNBA markets
  • Exciting slots from Betsoft
  • Part of the Chico Poker Network

What we don’t:

  • No loyalty or VIP schemes on offer

3. Everygame – The Best Gambling Site for Sports Betting

New Hampshire gambling - Everygame

While there are limited casino gaming options within the state of PA, offshore sites like Everygame offer players the chance to play a great deal of slots, table games, and live dealer games. This gambling platform also provides ample sports betting options, available on mobile devices without the need for a download. Everygame is build to simplify navigation for both PC and mobile users.

Another reason why Everygame is a great NH online gambling platform is that there are no transaction fees when you use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The casino’s cashier section has an extensive selection of options but it is rather odd that you can’t withdrawal through credit or debit cards. Payouts are reasonably speedy unless you use wire transfer or paper check.

The most fascinating thing about the casino is Everygame’s promo codes. There are multiple options to boost your wagering account after signing up. Bottom line, Everygame makes your whole PA online gambling experience great.

What we like:

  • Intuitive navigation and simple design
  • Speedy mobile site
  • Generous welcome bonus
  • Bitcoin available for payouts

What we don’t:

  • Customers can’t withdraw with credit cards

4. MyBookie – Perfect for those looking for many great bonuses

mybookie-pennsylvania

MyBookie is an online gambling Pennsylvania site that offers some absolutely fantastic bonuses. In fact, we can’t find any other online gambling Pennsylvania sites with a better range of bonuses than MyBookie. The bonuses on offer include a 100% welcome bonus worth up to $1,000 and $20 free to spend at the casino, as well as a rebate of 8% on horse racing losses. There are also casino bonuses offered every day, including a raffle every Thursday!

It’s not just the bonuses that make MyBookie great, as they also offer loads of markets on a huge range of different sports. Horse racing is a strong point to the site, with its own dedicated section. Thoroughbred racing from the US, UK, Ireland, and more are offered, as is harness racing. You’ll also find great futures markets at the sportsbook, particularly on the NBA and WNBA.

There’s also a casino at the MyBookie online gambling Pennsylvania site. It’s not as impressive as the sportsbook, but it still offers a decent selection of online slots and a few table games. However, the live casino isn’t anything to get excited about, as you’ll only be able to play blackjack, roulette and baccarat there.

What we like:

  • Huge selection of sportsbook, poker and casino bonuses
  • Separate racebook for horse betting fans
  • Really strong selection of basketball futures markets
  • Decent range of online slots
  • Fantastic live betting platform offering many markets

What we don’t:

  • Small range of live dealer games
  • No poker platform available

5. BetUS – Offers a great selection of NBA markets

betus-pennsylvania

If your number one reason for heading to a sportsbook is to bet on the NBA and WNBA, you should consider signing up with BetUS. Quite simply, they offer a heady array of markets, from simple moneyline bets to prop bets on live action. We were also impressed by the racebook – not only does it look great, but it’s incredibly simple to use and, perhaps most importantly, offers competitive odds on nearly all selections.

The casino at this online gambling Pennsylvania site is a solid, if somewhat unspectacular one, offering all the game types you’d expect to find. The high point of the casino is the tournaments section, which are regular and have generous prizes. For example, at the time of writing, there’s an upcoming blackjack tournament, which is $5 to enter with $5 rebuys, as well as a $10 3 card poker tournament.

If you’re a cryptocurrency user, there’s another big reason to like BetUS, as they offer a 200% bonus to everyone using cryptocurrency to make their first deposit. The bonus is split into two: there’s a 150% sports betting bonus worth up to $1,875 and a 50% casino bonus worth up to $625. The following cryptocurrencies can be used: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum.

What we like:

  • The best site for basketball betting in PA
  • Great casino with many exciting online slots
  • Huge Bitcoin welcome bonus worth up to $2,500
  • Accepts deposits using various cryptocurrencies
  • Casino tournaments regularly held

What we don’t:

  • No option to deposit with an e-wallet
  • Minimum withdrawal of $50 is high

7. XBet – Top Betting Site in PA with Live Betting Option

Online Gambling California - XBet

If you have an undying flame for sports and online gambling, XBet may be the perfect home for you. In addition to the variety of sports such as basketball, volleyball, or tennis, the site features a full-time racebook. We know that horse race betting is not just a gambling opportunity but forms part of a rich PA culture.

Enjoy the great welcome offer which is a 200% match bonus up to $500 for both casino and sportsbook. If you are going to back your favorite thoroughbred, take advantage of the 7% Horse race rebate at XBet. If you lose you will get some of your cashback the following day. Even if you hate horse racing betting, you can still enjoy some fantastic bonuses.

You can claim a $500 first deposit bonus either for the sportsbook or for the casino, as well as many other promo codes on our review page. Banking options at this fantastic PA gambling online platform are also some of the most flexible. Customers can use credit cards, eWallets, and cryptocurrencies.

Plus, the customer service team will do all they can to make sure that customers have a great experience playing here.

What we like:

  • Neat welcome bonuses for the casino and the sportsbook
  • 7% rebate for horse race bettors
  • Flexible banking and withdrawal methods
  • Efficient and super-friendly customer support team

What we don’t:

  • High minimum withdrawal for wire transfer

Is Online Gambling Legal in PA?

When is online gambling coming to Pennsylvania? Well, Pennsylvania online gambling laws are some of the most liberal in the country, meaning it’s here already, with both online sportsbooks and casinos already found in the state. The Pennsylvania online gambling bill was passed in 2017, making Pennsylvania the fourth state to offer legal online gambling, after Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Sites looking to officially offer their services in the state must hold a Pennsylvania online gambling license, which cost an eye-watering $10 million each. However, offshore sportsbooks and casinos in Pennsylvania don’t need to have a license. Both official and offshore sites are great choices, offering loads of different gambling options.

You’ll also find that land-based gambling is legal in Pennsylvania. There are 15 casinos found throughout the state and they don’t just offer casino games – they offer sports betting too. The commercial casinos in Pennsylvania have a higher turnover than those in any other state, except Nevada.

Can You Gamble Online in PA?

Quite simply, the answer to the question of “is online gambling legal in PA” is: yes! In a 2017 online gambling vote Pennsylvania made online gambling sites completely legal, providing they are properly licensed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

However, you’ll find that the sites we recommend are not licensed, so why are we recommending them? Well, it’s simple: our recommended online gambling Pennsylvania sites are based outside the US, therefore they don’t fall under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. We know these offshore sites are a great place for playing casino games and betting on sports, and feel that they need to be promoted as much as the licensed PA gambling sites.

PA Online Gambling Laws

As already mentioned, 2017 saw a bill legalizing online gambling in a few different forms. There have been other important dates concerning Pennsylvania law online gambling, and we’ve summarized the main ones in our Pennsylvania online gambling timeline below.

  • 2017. Gov. Wolf signs HB 271, a huge gambling bill legalizing gambling in many forms, including online casinos and lottery. Plans are also put in place to legalize sports betting, should the federal position on sports betting change.
  • 2018. The US Supreme Court strikes down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, clearing the way for individual states to start legalizing online sports betting.
  • 2019. PlaySugarHouse Sportsbook PA opens in June, becoming the first online sportsbook to open in the state.
  • 2019. The first legal online casinos in Pennsylvania open, with Parx Casino and Hollywood Casino opening July 15.
  • 2019. PokerStars becomes the first legal online poker site in Pennsylvania. It quickly surpasses the traffic of the PokerStars NJ platform.
  • 2021. A court ruling opens up the possibility of poker sites in Pennsylvania signing a compacting agreement with sites in other states, which would allow players in PA to play against those in other states.

It is important to mention that offshore casinos and sportsbooks have been available throughout the period of online gambling being legalized in Pennsylvania. They’re still open to players from the state, with the ones listed on this page being the best options.

Online Gambling Guides State by State

PA Online Gambling

Online gambling Pennsylvania websites have a huge number of advantages over traditional, land-based venues. This explains why online sports betting in PA takes 90% of all wagers, leaving land-based venues with just a tiny slice of the pie.

Larger Variety of Gambling Options

The biggest reason to choose an online gambling Pennsylvania site over a land-based venue? The fact that you’ll find a much larger range of gambling options. Pennsylvania online casinos offer hundreds, and often thousands, of different games, and land-based venues simply can’t fit that number on their premises. You’ll also find hundreds of poker tables running at the best poker websites, but even the largest poker rooms can only fit in a fraction of this amount.

You’ll find that you can bet on all manner of sports at both online and land-based venues, but it’s online where the action is best. This is because live betting can be done at online sportsbooks – something you won’t be able to do very easily if you need to keep walking to kiosks and placing bets. Overall, if you’re the kind of gambler looking for the biggest possible variety of gambling options, you should choose to head online every time.

Bigger Choice of Venues

You’ll also find that there’s a bigger choice of places to gamble at online gambling Pennsylvania sites. There are currently 15 land-based casinos in the state, most of which also offer sports betting. When you take into account the number of offshore casinos in the state, you’ll find that online gambling sites are far more prevalent.

This larger choice of places to play has a few advantages, but the biggest is the fact you should never get bored. Head to the same land-based casino every day for a year and you’ll get tired of seeing the same four walls. However, play online and you can visit loads of different casinos over the same period of time, never getting bored, thanks to the new games and features you constantly find.

More Bonuses

When you play at a land-based venue, you won’t get too many bonuses. In fact, a free drink and some loyalty points are about the most you can expect. However, this certainly isn’t the case at online gambling Pennsylvania sites, as the best of them offer loads of promotions to keep their players happy and interested.

All casinos we recommend have welcome bonuses in place, which add extra money to your first deposit, plus many also have reload bonuses, free spins and more. However, you do need to pay attention to the terms and conditions, as they can ruin some bonuses that initially look like great ones.

Gamble in Comfort

We’re not saying that casinos are uncomfortable. In fact, some of the sportsbook lounges you’ll find are pretty impressive, allowing you to bet and watch in fantastic surroundings. However, there’s not much that beats the comfort of your own sofa, sat in front of the TV while also betting on sports or playing online casino or poker games.

Thanks to mobile gambling, you’ll be able to take comfort to a whole new level. Fancy placing a bet while in bed? Just pick up your tablet and surf  over to one of the many Pennsylvania casino apps and make it happen. On vacation and feel like playing some roulette? Grab your smartphone and start spinning. You can even keep on gambling outside of PA when you use offshore sites, as, unlike legal online gambling Pennsylvania sites, they are not geofenced.

Lower Stakes Usually Available

Land-based casinos aren’t usually very friendly towards those looking to bet small amounts. In fact, aside from the slots, there aren’t many games you’ll find offering low stakes. This makes playing at a land-based casino unattainable for some.

Finding low stakes isn’t a problem at online gambling Pennsylvania sites, as many games allow you to play for as little as $0.01 per turn. Most online gambling Pennsylvania sites even allow you to play games for free – you won’t win any money, but you’ll still get to experience the enjoyment of playing some of the best casino games around.

Land-Based Casinos in Pennsylvania

In total, there are 15 land-based casinos in Pennsylvania, all of which are overseen by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Six of them are racinos, five are standalone casinos, two are casino resorts, and two are mini-casinos. All are commercial casinos – there are no casinos on tribal land in the state.

The Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act was passed in 2006, legalizing slot machines at 14 different places. This was the beginning of casino gambling in the state. Table games at casinos were then legalized in 2010. In 2017, ten new mini-casinos were authorized, although currently only two have opened.

The Future of Casinos in PA

As you’ve already seen, Pennsylvania has a fantastic selection of casinos for gamblers to choose from. However, this hasn’t stopped plans from being made to further expand the land-based industry.

2017 was the biggest year for gambling in Pennsylvania, as online gambling Pennsylvania was legalized. The year was also notable for land-based casinos, as it was when the state authorized licenses for 10 satellite casinos – smaller versions of existing casinos in the state. So far, five of these licenses have been purchased, and two have already opened venues. This means that more mini-casinos should be coming to the state soon.

The same bill in 2017 also saw the passing of a law allowing people to bet in truck stops and airports. Up to eight airports were to be allowed to offer casino gaming, while all truck stops were permitted to have up to five video gaming terminals (VGTs). Currently, no casinos have been opened at any of the state’s airports, but there’s still the opportunity, should anyone have the inclination. A large number of truck stops have installed VGTs, and more could well follow suit.
