Week 2 of the 2021-2022 NFL Preseason is underway and Saturday features a jam-packed slate of 10 games for bettors to choose from. The shortened preseason means that most teams will elect to give their starters some reps this week, adding some intrigue to the exhibition season. With football season right around the corner, we’ll break down a couple of potential NFL preseason betting picks for football fans to cash in on.

NFL Preseason Betting Picks

Bovada sportsbook has the Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) favored by 6.5 points ahead of Saturday night’s contest in Los Angeles against the Rams (0-1). Meanwhile, Denver (1-0) enters Week 2 of the NFL Preseason as five-point favorites against the Seattle Seahawks, who come in with an 0-1 preseason record.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Rams Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Los Angeles

  • Rams are 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a home underdog.

Las Vegas

  • Jon Gruden is 32-20-3 against the spread all-time during the preseason

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has dominated during the preseason. His teams are 37-18 overall and 32-20-3 against the spread during the exhibition season and the Raiders opened the 2021-2022 preseason with a convincing win over the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, Rams head coach has already committed to sitting his starters during the preseason for the fourth straight year. Los Angeles is expected to keep out as many as 35 starters this week, which should give the Raiders an edge in overall talent on the field in this game.

The Raiders should also have the advantage under center in this one. Rams’ rookie Bryce Perkins performed well in his first taste of NFL action last week but Las Vegas is expected to have backup quarterback Marcus Mariota for Saturday’s contest. Meanwhile, Raiders’ third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman has experience in Gruden’s system and helped the Raiders move the ball against the Seahawks in Week 1. Take the Raiders to cover the spread at home in this matchup versus Los Angeles on Saturday evening.

Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Spread: DEN -5.0

Total: 37.5

Seattle

  • Seahawks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Denver

  • Broncos are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games on fieldturf.

Like Gruden, Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll has a penchant for getting the most out of his players during the exhibition season. Carroll is 35-23 overall and 37-20-1 against the spread in the preseason as an NFL head coach. While he hasn’t officially given the word that he will play his starters, franchise quarterback Russell Wilson recently told reporters that he was itching to play this weekend. Carroll often plays his starters for a series or two but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him be a little extra careful given the nature of the shortened preseason schedule.

On the other side, the Broncos have committed to a full-fledged quarterback competition during the preseason, which bodes well for their chances in this game. In Week 1 of the preseason, Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater combined for 15 of the team’s 22 pass attempts. Lock performed well in the preseason opener, completing 5-of-7 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns while Bridgewater finishing 7-of-8 for 74 yards and a score. With Bridgewater expected to draw the start and Lock expected to follow for Saturday’s game, the Broncos should have the edge under center for most of this contest. Take Denver to cover the spread on the road in this NFL preseason contest on Saturday night.
